Capturing Zoho Forms submissions as conversions in Google Analytics

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

Zoho forms is a simple, dynamic, and intuitive application for building the forms you need for your lead generation activities. It also integrates with ConstructionBOS allowing for automated lead creation within your CRM (see ConstructionBOS CRM integration with Zoho Forms ). You can also integrate your forms with your Google Analytics account, allowing you to create measured conversions. This gives you greater insight and clarity into your marketing activities.

How to track Zoho Forms in Google Analytics

After you have created your form and integrated it with ConstructionBOS all the leads generated from this form will be automatically created/updated in your ConstructionBOS CRM. You can also track your form submissions in your Google Analytics account as goals, which in turn can be put against AdWords campaigns as conversions.

There are a number of ways to do this. We believe the easiest way to achieve this is to track the URL if your form redirects to a "Thank you" page.

However if you do not wish for your form submissions to redirect, instead have it stay on the same page with a “Thank you” message appearing in the form frame once submitted. There is a little more work involved but we will show you a quick method of achieving this here. This can be useful for tracking individual forms without having to do multiple Thank you pages and keeping traffic on your website.

In Google Analytics

Login to your Google Analytics account.

Go to Admin (bottom left-hand side of the screen)

Click on Goals and then

Pick from template or custom, depending on the purpose your form serves, you have the option to choose templated options such as “make a payment or “make an appointment”. Alternatively, you can choose custom, and enter your own goal description or the form name, etc.

For "Type" choose “destination”.

Hit continue.

For the “Destination” section use the “Equals to” option.

For the Url here you can either enter the redirect page URL if you are using one but if not you will have to do the following:

In Zoho Forms

Open the form you are looking to track in Zoho forms and go to the Share tab.

Copy the form URL and open in a new tab, then complete it and submit, it will redirect to a thank you message. Copy the URL that is now showing and paste this URL into your google Analytics in the destination equals to field.

And save.

Even when the form is embedded in a page and is submitted this URL will fire even if just showing the thank you message in the embedded form frame.

The last step for this goal to track your form submissions is done in Zoho forms.

In Google Analytics

In your Google Analytics account take note of your google analytics ID number

To find the Google Analytics ID:

  1. Sign in to your Analytics
  2. Click Admin.
  3. Select an account from the menu in the ACCOUNT column.
  4. Select a property from the menu in the PROPERTY column.
  5. Under PROPERTY, click TrackingInfo > Tracking Your Google Analytics ID is displayed at the top of the page.

In Zoho Forms

Once you have your Google Analytics ID go to your Zoho forms and in the form you are looking to track go the Settings Tab and then on the left menu go to “Acknowledgement & Redirects”.

Click the check box beside Add Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel tracking code.

The following pop up box appears where you enter your Google Analytics ID.

Once all these steps are followed and your form is saved, it will now be recorded as a goal in your GA account even if not being redirected to another page.
